Die Versuchshalle mit den Institutsboxen gilt als Meilenstein des Konstruktiven Holzbaus in Österreich.
Interdisziplinäre Kommunikation, Erweiterbarkeit und optimierte Arbeitsabläufe bestimmen die Gesamtkonzeption. An die neu errichtete Prüf- und Versuchshalle sind die Institute für Beton-, Holz- und Stahlbau als Boxen angedockt. Die zweigeschossige Erschließung entlang der Hallen längsseitig ermöglicht interne Vernetzungen und Übersicht bei den Versuchen.

Die Kommunikation zwischen den Instituten ist zudem durch gemeinsame Innenhöfe und Terrassen unterstützt. Großzügige Verglasungen an den Stirnseiten und Sheddächern nach Norden schaffen helle, lichtdurchflutete Arbeitsbereiche.
